Appointments

For non-urgent issues, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right service. An appointment may not be necessary.

This will help us to be more efficient by making an appointment available to you when you need it the most.

Think Pharmacy First

Many conditions can be treated without the need to see your GP

Pharmacists can give you advice on a range of conditions and suggest medicines that can help. They may also be able to offer treatment and some prescription medicine for some conditions.

Conditions they can treat:

Urgent appointments for today or tomorrow

Appointments between 9am and 6:30pm are made on the same day, please call early to book from 8:30am.

Only one problem will be dealt with in these appointments. Same-day urgent appointments will be dealt with by either a Nurse Practitioner or GP. A nurse may call you back to triage emergency same day appointment requested.

If your request is considered urgent, our reception team will contact you to offer a same-day appointment. Please note that same-day appointments can only be offered within the same morning or afternoon that the request is made, so ensure you are available to attend the GP practice if needed.

Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)

You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Home Visits

Please be aware that our GPs will always call to assess the home visit request first.

If you need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 11am.

Telephone: 0208 808 2837

Please ask for home visits only when the patient is too ill to attend the surgery, if at all possible it is best to come to the surgery where we have better facilities for examination. The reception may ask for further details to assist the doctor to assess the need for a home visit.

Did Not Attend (DNA)

DNA means that a patient does not turn up for their appointment and does not contact the surgery in advance to cancel/change appointment. The effect of these are:

  • An increase in the waiting time for appointments
  • Frustration for both staff and patients
  • Costs the NHS billions of pounds per year
  • Prevents someone else who is sick to be seen sooner

Unfortunately, patients frequently missing booked appointments is a wasted resource that other patients nor the surgery cannot accept. Although we send a complimentary appointment reminder text to patients, it is the duty of the patient to remember and attend their pre booked appointment. If a patient fails to attend a pre-booked appointment (doctor or nurse) then this is considered to be a missed or DNA appointment.

Important

If a patient fails to attend 3 or more appointments a letter explaining that they are to be removed from the practice list will be sent but information as to how to register at a new surgery can be included.

If the patient is offered a same day or urgent appointment and DNA without reason, this will be taken seriously and would breach our DNA policy putting them at risk of being removed from our list.

Lateness

We recommend all patients to arrive on time for their appointments. However, if a patient arrives more than 10 minutes late for their appointment this will be considered as a missed appointment or DNA and the patient may not be seen. However, if the patient contacts the practice in advance and notifies them that they are running up to 15 minutes late, the patient will often be seen and accommodated but this will be at the nurse or doctor's discretion. Patients arriving on time will ensure that:

  • We reduce costs to the NHS
  • Clinics run on time
  • Ensure that the doctor is not rushed
