From Friday 18th March 2016 we will pilot a new appointment booking system for non-urgent appointments. Patients will be able to call the surgery and we will endeavour to book an appointment within 48 hours.
We are moving away from booking appointments more than 48 hours in advance due to the non-attendance here at the surgery; there was a total of 275 wasted appointments (patients did not turn up for a booked appointment) in the month of February 2016 alone. This not only wastes the time of our GPs, nurses and healthcare assistant but also prevents other patients from using those appointments.
Furthermore, all non-urgent appointments will be bookable by patients using our 'Online Access' system. This service allows patients to book appointments and request repeat prescriptions on any computer with internet access as well as compatible smartphones. We are trialling the new appointment booking system and hope that it will reduce the number of non-attended appointments and also give patients better access to their GP.
