Minor Ailments Scheme

What is the Minor Ailments Scheme?

The Minor Ailments Scheme allows patients to get treatment at a local pharmacy for a range of minor ailments without going to their GP to obtain a prescriptions. This allows patients to get treatment quicker and ease the burden on GP services. Pharmacists are trained to treat common conditions such as those listed below and can refer you to your GP if your illness requires a prescription medicine or a GP appointment

Do I need to pay?

The service and treatment is free if the patient does not pay for their prescription, if you pay for your prescription you can still get advice from the pharmacist and purchase the medication over the counter which is often cheaper than the current prescription charge of £8.05.
